Fall 2019 Yoga Programs
We are very pleased to introduce two new yoga programs this fall led by ISAND’s Yoga and Rhythmic Movement Therapist, Tatjana Smrekar.
There are several benefits to yoga including:
Increasing body awareness and building a positive sense of self;
Building strength, increases mobility and stability;
Reducing feelings of anxiety, releases tension and stress;
Learning breathing exercises for calming to help in the everyday world;
Supporting social communication;
Improving self-regulation skills; and
Improving concentration and focus skills
Yoga for Parent and Child with Autism
Are you interested in fostering positive connections with your child while promoting calmness and well-being?
This parent-child yoga program provides the perfect opportunity! The non-competitive nature of yoga allows participants to explore their movements and sensations without the pressure of getting it right. Parent and child can learn new skills together while enjoying a fun and playful yoga class. This yoga program is for one parent and one school aged child (7-12 years). The hatha yoga class will be a combination of therapeutic yoga movements, yoga poses, breathing exercises, mantra meditation and relaxation poses. Some partner poses will be included. No previous experience is required.
Duration: Every Thursday starting October 2019 for 8 Weeks
Time: 4:00 pm to 5:00 pm
Location: Jaya Yoga Centre - 121 Willowdale Ave, Suite 302 (near Bayview & Sheppard)
Cost: $360 per parent-child pair
